Tornadoes that reach violent ratings (EF4 or EF5) are capable of catastrophic damage. Houses are completely swept away, debris become killer projectiles, and the only true safe place to be is underground or in a reinforced shelter. If a tornado threatens you, remember to take shelter in the lowest point of your house (preferably a basement or storm shelter). The center of the house is better than outside walls.
